Flashback: Are Computers the Future of Newspapers?
You’ve got to love this technological time capsule, a 1981 report from KRON TV in San Francisco about the San Francisco Examiner’s experiments with this newfangled home computer technology. Our favorite passage:
This is only the first step in newspapers by computer. Engineers predict the day will come when we get all of our newspapers and magazines by home computer, but that’s a few years off. So for the moment at least, this fellow [a newsstand attendant is pictured] isn’t worried about being out of a job.
