Get Into the ‘CavZone’
Now that we have arrived at the confluence of the college football and basketball seasons, it may be a good time to give a little boost to a student-run radio (sort of) show, “CavZone.”
A product of student-run WUVA (KISS 92.7), the 30-minute weekly show is currently available only online as a mp3 download. However, third-year student Robert Powell, the station president, has hopes of putting it over the air as well.
The show, he said, pays special attention to the University’s “Olympic” sports, although it does not ignore the headline-grabbing sports like football, basketball and baseball.
And speaking of the Olympic sports … The Cavalier field hockey team, ranked No. 2 in the nation, hosts an NCAA regional this weekend at the Turf Field adjacent to University Hall. U.Va. plays Richmond at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, and the game should be over in plenty of time to tailgate before the 3:30 football game against Boston College.
