More Field Hockey: Elstein Named ‘Elite 88′ Winner for GPA
(Yes, we’re becoming “all field hockey, all the time.”)
Lauren Elstein, a Lawn resident and stalwart on U.Va.’s field hockey team that competes this afternoon in the NCAA Final Four, was announced last night as the winner of the NCAA “Elite 88″ Award for field hockey.
The award is given to the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the NCAA’s 88 national championship sites.
Elstein, who will graduate in May with a degree in economics and a minor in Spanish, beat out not only her teammates, but members of the teams from Princeton, UNC-Chapel Hill and Maryland.
That’s what we call “representin’.” Go Hoos!
(By the way, Jerry Ratcliffe of the Daily Progress had a nice column today on the job that head coach Michele Madison has done in turning that program around. It’s good reading.)
