Jen Lilley graduated from U.Va., four years ago and followed her acting dream to Hollywood.
So far, so good.
She dropped us a line recently to update us on her career — kind of an old-fashioned “write if you get work” note. (Her real goal, though, is to get you to like her on Facebook. Apparently, the more “likes” she gets on her fan page, the greater the “fan power,” and the better the chance one of her pilots will be picked up.)
Anyway, Lilley landed a “series regular role” on MTV’s “Disaster Date” (trailer here), which she describes as “a half-hour improv comedy on which I play all sorts of characters and make my blind dates run for the door. They think it’s real, I know it’s a set-up. It’s like ‘Punk’d,’ but with dates.” The 2011 season debuts tonight at 7, and will run every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. in May and June. (Read her cast bio page.)
On Wednesday, she finds out whether any of her three pilots — all comedies — will be picked up. “Ninety percent of pilots never go to series, but I feel like booking three of them really increases my odds,” she writes.
She also has a part in Nickelodeon’s newest “iCarly” movie, “iParty with Victorious!,” which debuts June 10. She describes her character, Monie, as “Spencer’s crazy ex-girlfriend and make-up artist to the stars.”
And in case you were watching “Rules of Engagement” on CBS last Thursday, that was Lilley playing the “bubbly barista.” You can watch it on Hulu here.
