U.Va. Produces an Olympian and an NBA Draftee

For an offseason day in June, yesterday proved to be a big day for a pair of Cavaliers.

Men’s basketball star Mike Scott became the first Cavalier drafted by a National Basketball Association team since Sean Singletary in 2008. Scott was a second-round selection (42nd overall) of the Atlanta Hawks.

Meanwhile, rising fourth-year swimmer Lauren Perdue punched her ticket to the London Summer Olympics by finishing fourth in the 200-meter freestyle, thus gaining a berth on the 4×200-meter freestyle relay team. Here’s what she had to say afterward:
