The Lawn is Gone, But Just Temporarily
Anybody remember the Committee to Pave the Lawn? It was a tongue-in-cheek student group that annually applied — in vain — for student activities funds, with which they proposed to purchase a cement mixer. I think it had to do with helping the parking situation.
Well, that’s not what’s going on here in this photo, shot by UVA Today’s Dan Addison. Nor is global warming turning Charlottesville into a desert.
Nope, they’re simply resodding the Lawn. UVA Today’s Matt Kelly had the story last month. Meanwhile, the roof replacement at the Rotunda continues, part of a busy summer of construction around the University.

How often is the Lawn resodded? I don’t recal it happening when I was in school (1963-67)
