U.Va. Basketball Team Enjoying (Working) European Vacation

The U.Va. men’s basketball team is in Europe for a series of exhibition games — and to soak in some of the culture. Jeff White of the newly redesigned virginiasports.com is part of the traveling party (lucky dog), and is sending back dispatches from the road. There’s also a behind-the-scenesĀ blog.

The Cavs won their first game Wednesday, 89-62 over the Netherlands B team, in a mostly empty suburban arena outside Amsterdam. VirginiaSportsTV was there, giving Cavalier basketball junkies their first look at the 2012-13 team.

Later stops are scheduled to include Antwerp and Paris.

According to a release on the Athletics website:

The Cavaliers conclude the trip in Paris where they will play two games against AMW Team France, a squad selected from players on rosters throughout the French League. The games on Aug. 13 and 14 will both start at 7 p.m. (1 p.m. ET) at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris.
