U.Va. Scientists Star in Discovery Education ‘Techbook’ Series
Eleven U.Va. professors are part of a 100-episode science video series produced for Discovery Education by Charlottesville-based Paladin Media Group. The three- to five-minute episodes cover aspects of biology, chemistry, physics and earth/space science.
The episodes will be used as part of Discovery Education’s High School Science “Techbook.” The techbook is like a textbook, but is media rich and designed for use on iPads. The videos will be used to educate high school students worldwide.
Paladin Media Group’s production team included several Charlottesville-area freelance producer/editors as well as subject matter experts from Albemarle County Public Schools and U.Va.
U.Va. professors featured in the videos include biologist Edmund D. Brodie III, chemist Linda Columbus, physicist Bradley Cox, chemist Cassandra Fraser, physicist Robert Hirosky, physicist Pham Q. Hung, astronomer Kelsey Johnson, biologist Sarah Kucenas, physicist Simonetta Liuti, environmental scientist Stephen Macko and biologist Douglas Taylor — all from the College of Arts & Sciences.
