Campaigns Stop on Grounds, But Not What You Think
A couple of national campaigns are scheduled to make stops on Grounds this month, but don’t expect Secret Service snipers perched atop buildings.
Tonight, a group calling itself “truth” is sponsoring a free concert featuring Cobra Starship and Outasight at the JPJ. truth is an “anti-Big Tobacco” group that is apparently targeting colleague audiences to get its point of view out there. So expect some “messaging,” but hey, free is free. Doors open at 6. Organizers want you to sign up through Facebook.)
“Pete Dominick’s Electoral College Tour,” dispatched by Sirius XM Radio’s “POTUS” channel, will be stopping by the U.Va. Bookstore and the Rotunda’s West Oval Room immediately before the third and final presidential debate on Oct. 22.
Dominick, a stand-up comedian and radio host, will host his satellite radio show from the bookstore’s mezzanine from 3 to 6 p.m., and then will moderate a student town hall beginning at 8 p.m., “where he will speak with students about voting in this swing state and how this election will affect them.” The event is sponsored by U.Va.’s Center for Politics (here’s its event listing, which includes information about how to get involved). You can read Sirius XM’s press release about the event here.
